If government's purpose is to organize people to create the lives we want, then knowing what really makes us happy is essential.
November 12, 2015: To a former sales director of The Chopra Center for Wellbeing, where I served as marketing director for just under a year.*
* I worked also as a consultant for them, so for simplicity's sake, included both of these experiences under my Freelance Designer & Creative Director heading on LinkedIn.
Thanks Neal! I am developing a social media campaign called Pinups Presidential, where I'm running for President as a character named D'Ava Gardener. (Think political satire like The Colbert Report or SNL) #AVA2016 intends to redesign governance in light of current technology using entertaining & engaging social media MemesThatMatter (#MemesThatMatter) to talk about the issues really impacting our lives, vs. the same old political rhetoric we're used to hearing. A core idea is developing a whole and healthy citizen who will connect in meaningful affinity groups to create social change & that's where I'd like to engage someone doing biz dev at the Chopra Center. I know they get a zillion requests from the well-meaning [folks & fans of Deepak Chopra: a bit of a celebrity vibe we had to work with & around] so I'd hoped to gain a qualified "in" to talk to them about their current programming and business objectives to see if there might be a match for a possible collaboration. I was very impressed with their programming when I was working there, but at $2000+++ price points, that kind of transformational mind/body coaching can be out of reach for many citizens. Here's a quick post about the #WishingWell initiative I'm developing that would be relevant to them http://www.pinupspresidential.com/wishingwell along with a general overview of the project here. http://www.pinupspresidential.com/ava2016/. If you have a moment, please let me know what you think! All best, Kelley Padrick (d.b.a. D'Ava Gardener *wink wink*:)
October 15, 2015 A note to a former personal development coach. I hired her to do a six-session series as I was in the middle of a professional and personal crisis hugely impacted by the 2009+ "Great Recession."
Hi Candice- hope this message finds you well.
I wanted to share something with you. It’s a big, beautiful project (in early phase messiness) I’ve invented** that relates to the coaching session series I did with you. I kept the marker-scribbled page we were working on, where I wrote down “Facilitating an Emergence” as a personal vision for my life’s calling and I’m really excited about what I’ve come up with to meet this desire.
PinupsPresidential intends to change the way we do governance in light of social technologies. I’m planning to travel across the country during the election season, working with various groups on #MemesThatMatter to highlight how personal tech can change the way we think about governing ourselves. Who knows? If we get lucky, we could change the world & even end up occupying the White House! A new, #SocialWhiteHouse.
A key idea: if civilization is about "doing life” together better than we could on our own, then using Mind-Body thinking to define the lives we truly want to lead represents an inverted, or from the inside-out, approach to changing governance. In a social profile-connected world, using ourselves as #GlobalCitizens (vs. which party one belongs to) as the starting point for connecting with others in meaningful affinity groups for #SocialChange makes more sense.
It’s not rocket science: it’s mostly about facilitating #DesignThinking about new ways we can think about things in light of personal tech.
Wanted to share with you in case you found any meaningful connections with what you might currently be involved in, but mostly I wanted to share the project with you as a thank you/feedback on our coaching session.
** I wanted to write, "A project I've given birth to that's in newborn, ugly-baby phase," (let's be honest: most babies take a few weeks to get cute:) but I think I remember this particular contact had a miscarriage, so I changed the wording. I want to embrace creative gestation and birth, caring for and protecting both a newborn and an initially weakened, postpartum mother, as universal language we can all relate to. Bringing about new life is exhausting, yet our "Shark Tank" mentality behaves as if creators need to sing for their supper while attempting to nurse. If we truly want to facilitate innovation, we need to redesign the macho VC pitch environment. My #DesignThinking proposal is developing #PodsEcosystems based upon #SustainableLivingPods standards.
